We’re just days away from 2022, and that means a fresh start for all of us — although for most of us it really feels like we got caught in Groundhog’s Day, waking up over and over to yesterday’s scene.

So here we are, masked, perplexed, depressed human beings during what’s supposed to be the “most wonderful time of the year.” Does Santa know he’s not allowed down the chimney without a vaccine this year?

The big lines to get the Covid tests and the hospitals quickly filling up is unfortunate scenery that we know too well. Trips, parties, jobs, outings with friends, everything being postponed and placed on hold — it hasn’t been easy to say the least.

But despite all this chaos in the world, we are all together with one wish. That somehow we move to a safe place and have a year of good news. Peace, health, happy moments, and love may be the ingredients that we all need to save the planet.

As you all know I love music and my latest adventure has been learning to play the bass guitar. Last week I fell in love with Bootsy Collins and his new song “The Power Of the One.”

For those who know music, you will understand the importance that the “one” has in a song. You miss it and you screw up the whole performance. You will have to run to catch up the tempo and the song may start to sound like something very different than the original. And if it’s not a Jazzy piece…the audiences’ ears will be annoyed.

I think if we take a closer look, the idea of the “one” applies to many different areas in our lives. In the present moment, we all need to be tuned together and understand the power of our individual actions in the context of all of us. We need to focus our attention as a team; a collective. And we need to listen! There’s so much power in working together. And when we do that, things really will get better, I promise you.

So here is my message for you:

In 2022 let’s get funky!

Laugh more, use more colors, shine, appreciate our differences, and get comfortable with the unknown. Enjoy the little moments whenever you can.

“People are so status-obsessed and they just don’t realise that we are all the same, that this whole Earth is our mothership and we’re all on board. We’re all funky, just not all of us know it.” — Boosty Collins.
